about

Russian drum & bass connoisseur Cod3x is a young producer who's been making the rounds with his aggressive, smashing 174bpm cuts that have enabled him to stand the test over his countparts in recent months. Whether it's in clubs or on speakers, he's pushed through the thousands of like-minded newcomers to be snapped up by none other than Ignescent, an imprint who are renowned for dropping heavy hitter after heavy hitter. He joins a roster of artists who've created their inclusion in the drum & bass underground hegemony, becoming a staple part of the genre's fabric and delivering fresh music time after again.

This next single from Cod3x is no different. Driving forward with a nastily slick bassline and the type of beats to make your toes curl, Cod3x's sound cracks teeth and catapults you into the darker shade of drum & bass. Never one to shy away from the more angry, powerful sonics which makes this subgenre so identifiable, ‘Centrifuge' draws out its explosive features. Jumping into gear with tapping percussion and grinding drum loops, the single's title-track smashes on impact, grabbing you by the ears and not allowing you to escape. From your first listen to Cod3x, you'll recognise that he's out for blood, bounding forward on pumping metallic mechanics and gun like beat patterns. This is Cod3x at his most intimidating.

Next up, ChaseR jumps into the mix. Having his take on an already impressive, powerfully grating record, it's no surprise that ChaseR also hails from Russia, a place that stands as a microcosm for the whole genre. Giving the track a stockier, spaced out and lumbering rhythm, the drums come thicker and fast, grabbing at you between intervals and adding a more imposing weight across its segments. Metallic beats throw themselves from every angle and it becomes impossible to disentangle yourself from its composition. Whilst showing respect to the original, ChaseR brings the track into different waters, demonstrating why both artists are such assets to Ignescent.

With yet more tracks to add to their widening collection, Ignescent are looking stronger than ever. Their time for domination may soon be upon us…
